Colin Nish has been appointed player-manager of Cowdenbeath as they prepare to play in Scottish League One after their relegation from the Championship.

The 34-year-old striker replaces Jimmy Nicholl, who resigned as manager a few days after his team lost 3-0 to Alloa on the final day of the season.

Nish joined Cowdenbeath in January from Dumbarton and scored four goals in 13 appearances.

Chairman Donald Findlay said "I have no doubt that he is the right man."

The Blue Brazil are Nish's ninth senior club, with Dunfermline Athletic, Kilmarnock, Hibernian and Hartlepool United among his former teams.

"He will bring great enthusiasm to the task and we will continue to benefit from his contributions as a player," Findlay told his club website.

"I hope, and expect, that everyone connected with Cowdenbeath FC will give him their full backing.

"The club's ambitions remain undiminished and everything will be done to help him get us back to winning ways after the disappointment of the season just past."
