Former player and assistant manager Wayne Hatswell has left Newport County.

The ex-Cambridge United defender joined Newport as a player-coach in 2011.

He was part of the Newport side that reached the FA Trophy final in 2012 but left at the end of that season to join Brackley Town.

Hatswell returned to Newport as first team coach in May 2013 and served as assistant to Jimmy Dack following Justin Edinburgh's departure to Gillingham.

"I've had some tremendous times at Newport and I've worked with some great people," Hatswell said.

"All good things have to come to an end, and I am excited for what the future holds for me personally."

His departure comes following the arrival of former England defender Terry Butcher as County's new manager in April.
