Alexis Sanchez scores his first goal of the Copa America as Chile and Bolivia progress

Striker Charles Aranguiz scored twice and Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez got one as hosts Chile beat Bolivia 5-0 to finish top of Copa America Group A.

But Bolivia joined Chile in the last eight thanks to Ecuador's earlier 2-1 win over Mexico.

Ecuador could still go through as one of the two best third-placed finishers.

Chile's Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal played the first half three days after crashing his car while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

Aranguiz opened the scoring a with a right-footed shot from inside the area less than three minutes into the match and Sanchez claimed his first goal of the tournament before the break, heading in Jorge Valdivia's cross.

Aranguiz scored his second from close range on 66 minutes before Gary Medel and a Ronaldo Raldes own goal completed the rout.

"To beat the great teams that we will face from now on, the only chance we have is to play the way we played today,'' Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli said.

"We scored five times, and the team has to keep prioritising the attack, but we also need to have some balance when we face a tougher opponent than we faced today."

Earlier, West Ham's Enner Valencia played a key role as Ecuador recorded their first-ever win over Mexico in the tournament.

Valencia set up Miler Bolanos for their opener in the first half before Bolanos returned the favour after 57 minutes with a neat through ball for the Premier League player to score.

Mexico hit back seven minutes later thanks to a Raul Jimenez penalty, but they were unable to get an equaliser.
