Greg Leigh: Manchester City full-back set to decide on Crewe move
Crewe Alexandra hope to hear whether young defender Greg Leigh will join the club permanently from Premier League side Manchester City by Friday.
Leigh, 20, made his senior debut and scored his first goal during his season-long loan with the Gresty Road outfit in 2014-15.
"Greg is our first choice and we should hear by the end of the week," Crewe boss Steve Davis told BBC Radio Stoke.
"We've not given him a deadline as such but we need to know."
Crewe have offered left-back Leigh a contract but it is understood personal terms are still to be finalised.
"We've got to do our best to tie down the ones that will improve us," added Davis.
"We should hear by Friday and we need to hear sooner rather than later so we can move on anybody else who can fill that position."
The England Under-19 international initially joined the Alex on a five-month deal last August but that was extended until the end of the campaign.
He made 42 appearances in total as Crewe narrowly avoided relegation from League One, making his professional debut in the League Cup win at Barnsley and grabbing his first goal in a 2-0 victory over Scunthorpe in March.
