Reading manager Steve Clarke says he is close to securing a number of new signings ahead of pre-season.

Clarke is yet to bring in any new players following a 19th-place finish in last season's Championship.

Goalkeeper Adam Federici and defender Alex Pearce have been among those to leave Reading over the summer.

"It's been a busy summer. There's a lot that's been done and hopefully you'll see the results in the coming weeks," Clarke told the club's website.

"I've identified quite a few targets and we've worked hard to try and get them.

"Some have fallen by the wayside already, a lot are still ongoing.

"Two or three are quite close to completion and that would be pleasing if we can get them in before all the players are back in a couple of weeks time."

Reading travel to Thailand for a pre-season tour from the first week of July with a match at Bangkok's National Stadium on 8 July.

They begin the Championship season away against Birmingham City on 8 August.
