Newport County have signed right-back Danny Holmes from relegated Tranmere Rovers.

Holmes is new manager Terry Butcher's fifth signing ahead of the 2015-16 League Two season and said on Twitter he is "excited" by the move.

Rovers dropped to the National League at the end of 2014-15.

The 26-year-old Holmes came through Rovers' youth system and after a spell with The New Saints in the Welsh Premier League.

Butcher has also recruited former Gateshead winger Alex Rodman, Welsh goalkeeper Rhys Taylor, 25, and defender Scott Barrow, 26, from Macclesfield.

Striker Lenell John-Lewis, 26, has also joined County from Grimsby Town on a two-year deal.
