Ten-man Bala Town lost 3-1 in the first leg against Differdange of Luxembourg in the Europa League first qualifying round.

Omar Er Rafik fired Differdange in front and three minutes later his pass found Gauthier Caron, who doubled their lead.

Dejvid Sinai's shot in off the post made it 3-0, before Bala's Ian Sheridan pulled a goal back for the Welsh side.

Mike Hayes saw red late on after receiving two bookings in 11 minutes.

Bala boss Colin Caton admits the chances of his side overturning the two goal deficit to go through are not looking good.

"We've given ourselves an uphill battle now," he told BBC Radio Wales Sport.

"They [Differdange] started quite bright but three of our defenders were caught in possession of the ball and it cost us dearly.

"They were just schoolboy errors and it just wasn't good enough on the night.

"We let ourselves down and we should have been a lot better than that."

The return leg in Bala is on Thursday 9 July.
