Dagenham & Redbridge 1-1 Stevenage

Dagenham & Redbridge's wait for a first League Two win of the season continued after they were held by Stevenage.

Ashley Hemmings put the Daggers ahead when he beat two defenders before firing into the top corner.

Jamie Cureton, who turned 40 on Friday, had two close-range efforts cleared off the line as the home side looked to extend their lead after the break.

Instead, Stevenage levelled when Tom Hitchcock turned in a header across goal from Brett Williams.

Dagenham & Redbridge coach Darren Currie told BBC London 94.9:

Currie on Dagenham v Stevenage

"We had a number of chances and you're looking for that second goal just to kill the game, which unfortunately never came.

"We didn't quite come out with the same energy and intensity in the second half and that allowed them to feed their way back into the game.

"I still thought we were comfortable. It is a cliché but at 1-0 the opposition have always got an opportunity to get back in the game."

Stevenage Manager Teddy Sheringham told BBC Three Counties Radio:

Teddy Sheringham: Stevenage boss on Dagenham draw

"We knew Dagenham would be throwing everything at us and try as much as they can. They've got one point after a few games and want to do better. We knew they would be flying at us.

"I thought we were very deep, so we tried to get the back four up a little bit higher and try and take the game to Dagenham.

"We had a few openings in the first half where we could've done better with our possession, but when you go a goal down away from home it's pleasing to get a goal in the end."
