Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 Fulham

Ross Wallace of Sheffield Wednesday
Ross Wallace created all three Sheffield Wednesday goals

Ross Wallace set up all three headed goals as Sheffield Wednesday saw off Fulham at Hillsborough.

Fulham goalkeeper Andy Lonergan had already done well to keep out an early Barry Bannan header before Fernando Forestieri nodded Wednesday ahead.

Jamie O'Hara levelled from distance, before Tom Lees' downward header restored the Owls' lead.

Michael Turner headed in off the bar to make it 3-1 but Tom Cairney pulled one back to ensure a nervy finale.

Forestieri marked his home debut with Wednesday's first, climbing above Jazz Richards to open the scoring, before O'Hara equalised from 20 yards.

Lonergan kept out an Alex Lopez header but defender Lees scored from the resulting corner and fellow centre-back Turner extended the advantage from Wallace's free-kick after the interval.

Cairney headed in O'Hara's cross to make it 3-2 and Keiren Westwood denied Dan Burn in stoppage time to secure the three points.

Sheffield Wednesday coach Carlos Carvalhal:

"It was our afternoon and we deserved the win. We missed a lot of chances against Burnley and Bolton and we are still missing some chances, but we are playing good football.

"Ross Wallace was ready to give the maximum in this match and he did very well. He had full energy. It wasn't just Ross because I felt that all the team played very well."

Fulham manager Kit Symons:

Symons on Sheff Wed v Fulham

"Poor defending from set-pieces and balls into our box cost us very dearly. That side of our game wasn't good enough.

"Take them (the goals) out of it and we played pretty well, so I'm torn between two stools. I'm annoyed with the defending from set-pieces and balls played into the box but I'm proud of the way the players performed, especially in the second half.

"We'll always score goals and we need to start getting a couple of clean sheets now."
