Oldham Athletic 2-4 Scunthorpe United

Scunthorpe's Gary McSheffrey

Scunthorpe earned their first away win of the season as Oldham suffered their first loss under manager David Dunn.

Gary McSheffrey had already hit the post before he poked home Paddy Madden's cross but Liam Kelly soon levelled from close range.

Dominic Poleon restored the visitors' lead before Tommy Rowe's deflected effort made it 2-2 before half-time.

Madden's close-range finish after a blocked header and substitute Kevin van Veen's solo effort wrapped up the win.

"I've had far worse lows than that, that's for sure.

"Of course it's disappointing to get beaten, it's disappointing to get beaten in any game. The manner of the defeat today was a little bit disappointing.

"I don't want to say we gave up, because they didn't give up but when you're chasing a game, you tend to leave yourselves a bit open at times."

Scunthorpe United manager Mark Robins told BBC Radio Humberside:

"I'm delighted. It's been a long time coming, maybe too long coming, but it's finally arrived and we've got a really good win.

"It takes us above them, and it takes us around about mid-table so it's a good start and it's back-to-back wins for the first time in a while.

"We've been better today than we've been in the past. Mentally, even when we conceded the goals we didn't go under."
