Northampton Town 2-1 Stevenage

Alfie Potter scored the winner as Northampton Town came from behind to beat Stevenage and climb to fourth.

After early pressure from the Cobblers, Stevenage midfielder Steven Schumacher scored his first goal of the season as his effort took a deflection off of Zander Diamond into the net.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised four minutes into the second half after being set up by Sam Hoskins.

Potter then slid in the winner after Stevenage failed to clear.

Northampton, who face a winding-up petition, are now three points off the automatic promotion places in League Two.

Chris Wilder: Northampton boss on Stevenage win

"We had to dig one out today because we weren't at our best.

"We've got a good group that is fully behind each other and in my opinion we deserved the three points.

"Sometimes through a season you have to find a way to win a game of football and we did that in the second half today."

Stevenage boss Teddy Sheringham told BBC Three Counties Radio:

Teddy Sheringham: Stevenage boss on Northampton defeat

"Yeah I am a little bit disappointed. I thought we played very well. I felt like we were in control. To come away losing is very disappointing.

"It was a great goal from our point of view, not theirs. Steven Schumacher got on to it, he made it his own and got a good finishing.

"We didn't really create enough chances. The one chance in my mind is going across the pitch form the left hand side and having nobody in the box to finish it off. That's a disappointing thing when you're so close to going two up."
