Millwall defender Carlos Edwards has extended his contract with the League One club until the end of the season.

Following his release in the summer, he rejoined on a deal until January.

The Trinidad & Tobago international, 37, has forced his way into the side having recovered from a serious knee ligament injury in September 2014.

"They say hard work pays off and this was something the club and I were working towards for some time," Edwards told the club website.

He has made 11 league appearances for Neil Harris' side so far this season.

The former Luton, Sunderland and Ipswich player joined Millwall on a free transfer in the summer of 2014 following a successful loan spell with the Lions the previous season.

"The club has kept its promise and now I'm looking to help Millwall back to the Championship," he said.

"I had no doubt once I got my head down I would be back playing, and now I'm enjoying every moment."
