Shrewsbury Town keen to keep Sullay Kaikai and Larnell Cole
Shrewsbury Town manager Micky Mellon says he is keen to keep hold of loan signings Sullay Kaikai and Larnell Cole in a bid to keep his side away from the wrong end of the League One table.
After a lean start, Kaikai, 20, has scored five goals since arriving from Crystal Palace in mid-September, all of them in Town's last six games.
And fellow midfielder Cole, 22, has had an impact since signing from Fulham.
Both loans expire in January and Mellon wants to make the moves more permanent.
"I want it to happen," Mellon told BBC Radio Shropshire. "We've started discussions and are waiting for feedback from the relevant clubs.
"There's no doubt they're enjoying being here and the clubs are pleased at seeing their players improve."
Shrewsbury currently lie 18th in League One, a point clear of danger, going into Saturday's home game with second-placed Gillingham.
But they go into the game off the back of Tuesday's 4-2 win at Sheffield United, when they came from behind to blunt the Blades with three goals in 10 second-half minutes.
