Luton Town 0-0 Cambridge United

Nathan Jones began his reign as Luton Town boss with a goalless draw against play-off chasing Cambridge United.

Jack Marriott thought he'd given the Hatters the lead at Kenilworth Road but his volley was ruled out for offside.

Robbie Simpson, Ben Williamson and Luke Berry all had efforts off target for the U's before Williamson turned in Lewis Page's cross, only for his effort to be ruled out for an earlier foul.

The hosts nearly won it late on but Jake Howells' shot was well saved.

Luton extend their winless run to four but drop to 18th, while Cambridge end a run of back-to-back defeats and remain 12th.

Luton Town boss Nathan Jones told BBC Three Counties Radio:

Jones on Luton v Cambridge

"I thought defensively we were excellent today. They are a strong Cambridge side but the way we limited them to very few chances was a credit to us today.

"There was a great Kenilworth Road atmosphere today, and we would have liked to reward the fans with a win, but it was a nice steady start today which will help us along in the future.

"It's going to take time, we aren't miracle workers. The players have responded fantastically well to what has happened recently, and this point will act as a building block for us looking on to next week."
