Wigan Athletic 1-1 Peterborough United

Marcus Maddison
Marcus Maddison's goal was his 10th of the season

Peterborough ended a five-match losing sequence by coming from behind to draw at League One title hopefuls Wigan.

Posh's ex-Wigan loan striker Shaq Coulthirst found the net early on, but had his effort ruled out for offside.

Wigan grew into the game, and took the lead when top scorer Will Grigg fired past Stuart Moore for his 16th goal of the season.

Posh levelled with a 30-yard Marcus Maddison free-kick, which went in off the near post to deny Wigan victory.

Wigan missed the opportunity to close the gap to leaders Burton, who were held away by Crewe.

Wigan Athletic manager Gary Caldwell told BBC Radio Manchester:

Caldwell on Peterborough draw

"First half they probably had the better of the game but in the second-half we dominated. We created lots of opportunities and couldn't quite kill the game off.

"That was a game we wanted to win. In terms of effort, I can't ask more from the players in the second half after a difficult week.

"They gave everything and just for a lack of quality in the box, we would have won."
