Zoumana Bakayogo: Crewe Alexandra defender signs one-year contract
Crewe Alexandra defender Zoumana Bakayogo has agreed a deal to stay at Gresty Road on a one-year contract, with an option of a further year.
The 29-year-old ex-Millwall, Tranmere and Leicester City left-back originally signed in January, only on a short-term deal, after doubts over his fitness.
But Paris-born former Ivory Coast Under-23 international Bakayogo ended up making 22 appearances for the Alex.
"I think my experience will help the young players," he said.
"League Two will be tough but we will be ready. We have to make sure we all work hard as a team to have a better season."
Bakayogo's re-signing follows the key capture of vastly experienced striker Ryan Lowe, who has returned to the club on a free transfer from Bury.
Bakayogo's back catalogue
Bakayago was released last summer by Leicester, for whom he made two League Cup appearances after signing from Tranmere in July 2013.
Prior to his arrival at Crewe, he had not played since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament 37 minutes into his debut on loan to Yeovil from Leicester in January 2014.
But Bakayogo, who still has a home on Merseyside from his time with Tranmere, made the hour-long daily journey to Crewe's Reaseheath training ground in a bid to get his career going again.
