Braintree Town: Hemel Hempstead goalkeeper Jamie Butler signs for Iron

Braintree Town have signed keeper Jamie Butler from National League South side Hemel Hempstead for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old England C squad member spent last season at Hemel, having begun his career at Metropolitan Police before joining Concord Rangers in 2014.

Butler becomes new Braintree boss Jamie Day's sixth summer signing.

He follows the arrival of midfielder Harry Lee and full-back Barney Williams from National League South side Welling, both on free transfers.

Much-travelled striker Lee Barnard and midfielder Craig Braham-Barrett have also joined, as has an as unnamed centre-half.

In addition, striker Michael Cheek and midfielder Chez Isaac have signed new one-year contracts.

But midfielder Kenny Davis has joined National League neighbours Boreham Wood along with defender Matt Paine, while fellow defender Matt Fry has joined York City and winger Dan Sparkes has moved to Torquay United.

And left-back Sam Habergham and midfielder Alex Woodyard have both gone to Lincoln City, to be reunited with former Iron manager Danny Cowley.
