Truro City's opponents 'come for the weekend and enjoy their day out'

Truro City boss Lee Hodges believes his side's poor home form might be down to away teams spending the weekend in Cornwall.

The Tigers have not won in the league at their Treyew Road home since their 3-0 win against Dartford in April.

"A lot of teams play differently when they're at home and they go for it when away," Hodges told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"I think that sometimes teams like to come down for the weekend and they enjoy their day out."

Hodges' side drew 2-2 against Chelmsford City on the opening day of the season and lost 3-1 against Bath City 10 days later.

"[When playing away] teams will sit back and you have to break them down and you have to be careful not to get caught on the counter-attack," Hodges added.

On Saturday, Truro will play Welling United, who are without win having drawn one and lost four of their opening five National League South fixtures so far this season.

"I'm desperate and looking for a first win at home to get rid of that. We're going into the game after I think picking up a valuable point [against Hampton and Richmond]," Hodges said.
