Ards manager Niall Currie named August manager of the month
Niall Currie, boss of newly promoted Ards, has been named as the Northern Ireland Football Writers' Manager of the Month for August.
During the opening month, Ards secured Premiership wins over Dungannon Swifts, Portadown and Ballymena United.
They also drew 2-2 with Cliftonville and beat Newry City in the League Cup.
After picking up the accolade for the first time, Currie paid tribute to the "commitment and hard work" of his players and backroom staff.
"This has allowed us to put down a real marker in this opening month of the season and we're proud of the results," said Currie.
"We are on the crest of a wave at the moment and the atmosphere around the club is wonderful. Everything is positive and we have started the season really, really well.
"We live in the real world here and know that there's a long, hard road ahead. We have to keep working the way we have and applying ourselves.
"The boys have been top drawer so far and if we keep the honesty about the team, I think we can be competitive with everybody."
The north Down club's only defeat of the month came against Glenavon at Mourneview Park.
