Sky Blues edge out Reds at Showgrounds

Ballymena United emerged 3-2 victors over Cliftonville in Saturday's keenly contested Irish Premiership game at the Showgrounds.

David McDaid gave the Reds the lead but Tony Kane restored parity with his first penalty of the match on the hour mark.

Cathair Friel's sixth goal of the season nudged the home side ahead and Kane again made no mistake from the spot on 85 minutes to make it 3-1.

Ross Lavery clinched a late consolation goal but David Jeffrey's side held out to move up to fifth place in the table.
