Reading: Jaap Stam concedes side need to find new ways to create chances
Reading manager Jaap Stam said his side may have to develop a new way of creating chances after falling to a late defeat by Aston Villa.
Jordan Ayew's penalty secured Villa a 2-1 win and stretched Reading's winless run to four league matches.
Stam conceded his side were beaten by a team who took a chance on the counter-attack after soaking up pressure.
"The opposition knows how we're playing and they're making it difficult for us to score goals," said the Dutchman.
"We need to find a certain way of creating our own chances and scoring goals too. You play certain games against certain quality teams and it's not easy.
"You work hard, but everybody is looking for the win. Everybody is going for it."
Reading enjoyed 69% of possession in the match, but their ponderous play struggled to break Villa down.
"You need to have a little bit of luck at times," added Stam. "What's happened to us in the last couple of games is we've gone behind and we're having to battle to get back level."
