Jamal Lowe: From Hampton & Richmond to Portsmouth and England C in dream month
Portsmouth-bound striker Jamal Lowe hopes to round off a whirlwind few weeks with an international debut.
The 22-year-old, currently playing for National League South side Hampton & Richmond, could represent England C in Estonia on Tuesday.
Once his international commitments are complete, Lowe will focus on joining League Two Pompey in the new year.
"Making the step up to league football is something I've been working towards for three or four years," he said.
Lowe's 19 goals so far this season in all competitions for Hampton & Richmond made him the target of several clubs from the National League and the Football League.
But after numerous offers, the former Barnet player opted for a move to Fratton Park and the chance to join Paul Cook's squad.
"I can't wait to get started in January," he told BBC Radio Solent. "But, I'm still giving my all for Hampton and I'm not resting up.
"I'm looking forward to going into the Portsmouth move in good form and scoring goals. There's so much potential for the club to go forward.
"When I first sat down and chatted with Paul Cook, he struck me right away as the type of person I will work well under."
Lowe will be the only member of Paul Fairclough's England C squad to face Estonia Under-23s from a National League South club and hopes he can take his chance for international honours before joining Pompey.
"To get the chance is really special," he added. "It's the first time I'll have been involved at international level."
