Former Bristol City striker Wayne Allison has been appointed manager of Welsh Premier League side Cardiff Met.

Allison has been promoted from first team coach to replace Christian Edwards, who has stepped down from the role due to work commitments at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Ex-Wales defender Edwards will assist Allison and continue in his role as director of football.

Cardiff Met are currently fifth after securing promotion last season.

Allison will be in charge for the first time for Friday's night's game at Bala Town.

"I have been with the squad for a while now, so it's just about progressing forward together," Allison said.
