Lights go out on Derry's league opener

Derry City's opening Premier Division game against Limerick was brought to a premature end on Friday night when the floodlights failed after 25 minutes at the Candystripes' temporary home at Maginn Park in Buncrana.

The sides were level at 1-1 when play was halted, Dean Clarke having put Limerick ahead, with Ronan Curtis equalising.

It has been rescheduled for Tuesday, 21 March at the same venue.

Derry City are due to play all their domestic league and cup games at the county Donegal venue this season because of redevelopment work at the Brandywell.
