Ross Allen: Guernsey name striker in squad for Island Games title defence

Guernsey celebrate
Guernsey's 2015 Island Games title was their first in more than a decade

Guernsey have included talismanic striker Ross Allen in their new-look Island Games squad, as they look to defend their title in Gotland in June.

Only six of the squad which won gold in 2015 have been selected, with Allen named after his return from travelling.

Among the 14 debutants is 16-year-old Charlton Gauvin, while former Guernsey FC captain Jamie Dodd is not included.

"The core of experienced players is complimented by young and enthusiastic talent," said manager Steve Sharman.

"Faith and trust has been put squarely at the feet of these players and it is now their responsibility to commit to the journey and see that potential realised."

River Marsh, Kyle Smith and Rory Moriarty are the only players in the 20-man squad who do not play for the island's premier club side Guernsey FC.

Guernsey are not taking a women's football side to the Games on the Swedish island.
