Jon Nolan: Shrewsbury Town sign Chesterfield midfielder on three-year deal
Shrewsbury Town have signed Jon Nolan on a three-year deal from relegated Chesterfield for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old Liverpudlian midfielder joined Chesterfield in May 2016 from Grimsby Town, where he helped Paul Hurst, now Shrewsbury manager, lead the Mariners back to the Football League.
"It was only a short spell but we got promoted and it was probably the best time of my career," said Nolan.
"The gaffer's shown a lot of faith in me and I just want to repay him."
Nolan, who has also played for Stockport County, Lincoln City and Wrexham, becomes the League One side's third summer signing, after strikers Lenell John-Lewis and Arthur Gnahoua.
Having kept hold of defender Mat Sadler, 32, and winger Shaun Whalley, 29, Hurst is still waiting on contract offers made to teenage keeper Shaun Rowley and 21-year-old midfielder Bryn Morris.
Apart from the four players released at the end of the season and the six loanees who returned to their clubs, Shrewsbury have parted company only with midfielder Gary Deegan, who has left to join Cambridge United.
