Oisin McConville says Armagh must appoint full-time coaches to work with the county's GAA grassroots.
The former Orchard County star made the comment on BBC Radio Ulster after watching Armagh suffer a 1-10 to 0-10 defeat against Laois in the Football qualifiers to end their hopes in the year's Championship.
"It's perfectly simple. We need to invest a few quid in bringing full-time coaches in," said McConville.
"If you had five or six full-time coaches, with a small county like Armagh, think about the amount of time they could spend with clubs, with primary schools, with secondary schools.
"Not only that, we need them to coach the coaches we have in the clubs.
"We need to look which direction we are heading in now. If we keep drifting the way we are drifting, the only place we are headed is Division Four."
