Scottish hero Wells goes back to roots

Shattering the myth that Brits could not sprint, Scottish athlete Alan Wells became the Olympic 100m champion at the 1980 Summer Olympic Games in Moscow.

He also won six Commonwealth Games medals in a glittering career - four of them gold.

Wells left school at age 15 to begin an engineering apprenticeship, and was initially a triple jumper and long jumper.
