Darren Clarke shot a closing round of four-under-par 68 at the Italian Open to finish in a tie for 46th place in Turin.

Clarke's six-birdie round left him on eight under but that was 13 shots behind winner Robert Rock who finished on 21 under.

Englishman Rock finished one shot ahead of joint runners-up Thorbjorn Olesen and Gary Boyd.

Damien McGrane finished on seven under after a closing 70.

Clarke's round followed his disappointing 75 on Saturday which ended his hopes of contending over the weekend.

The Dungannon man won last month's Iberdrola Open in Majorca but he has struggled for consistency since then and fired consecutive 80s last weekend at the Wales Open.
