World number one Rory McIlroy has won the RTE Sport Person of the Year award for a second time.

It follows a superb 2014 for the Holywood player, who won the Open and USPGA titles to bring his career majors tally to four.

McIlroy topped the money lists on the European and PGA tours and helped Europe to Ryder Cup success.

Ireland rugby coach Joe Schmidt was named top manager after guiding the team to Six Nations glory.

All-Ireland Ladies Football champions Cork won the team award and retired rugby star Brian O'Driscoll entered the RTE Sport Hall of Fame at the awards ceremony in Dublin.

McIlroy won the BBC NI Sport Personality award earlier this month after being pipped by Lewis Hamilton for the main national award.

The Co Down man also won the BMW PGA Championship and WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in 2014.
