McIlroy seven off Spieth at Masters

World number one Rory McIlroy is seven shots behind leader Jordan Spieth after round one of the Masters at Augusta.

The Northern Irishman, 25, is aiming to become only the sixth man to win all four majors and made a solid start with a battling one-under-par 71.

However, American Spieth, who was joint second last year, hit nine birdies to lead by three on eight-under 64.

England's Justin Rose made is tied for second on five under with Ernie Els, Charley Hoffman and Jason Day.
