Michael Hoey remains in contention at the BMW International Open in Germany after shooting a one-under-par 71 in Saturday's third round.

The Belfast player lies tied fifth on 11 under and five shots behind leader James Morrison of England.

Hoey, who started the day two off the pace, carded four birdies and three birdies in Munich.

Darren Clarke eagled the the 18th to post a 69, which leaves the former Open champion from Dungannon on six under.

Offaly's Shane Lowry is eight under and Damien McGrane six under, with both players also firing a 69.

Peter Lawrie (77) is back on two under and Kevin Phelan (76) is a further shot adrift.

Morrison is two clear of compatriot Chris Ramsey with Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee three back.
