Thorbjorn Olesen claimed his third European Tour title with victory in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews.

The Dane carded a one-under-par 71 to finish on 18 under, two strokes ahead of Brooks Koepka, with fellow American Chris Stroud a shot further back.

England's Chris Wood tied for fourth thanks to a superb seven-under 65.

"To win it on St Andrews, it is something you dream of when you are a little kid," said Olesen, 25.

"All the hours I have put in this year has paid off."

The world number 155, who began the final round with a three-shot lead, carded three birdies, a bogey and a double bogey in the first five holes.

He holed a 50-foot putt for a birdie on the 15th and maintained his two-shot lead to claim victory.

Olesen said: "When I won my first one I started off badly also, so I was very patient out there."

He won the Sicilian Open in 2012 and the Perth International triumph in 2014.
