England's Greg Owen is one shot off the lead after the first round of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

The 43-year-old, who has never won on the PGA Tour, sank five birdies in his first eight holes on his way to a six-under-par 65 in Las Vegas.

Canada's David Hearn and American trios Michael Thompson, Mark Hubbard and Tyler Aldridge are all tied at the top of the leaderboard on seven-under.

Aldridge has three holes left because bad light curtailed play.
