Scotland's Paul Lawrie holds a two-shot lead going into the final day of the Qatar Masters as he aims to win the tournament for a record third time.

Lawrie, 47, won the event in 1999 and 2012 and registered birdies on the 14th and 18th in his two-under-par 70 to move to 13 under for the competition.

Defending champion Branden Grace of South Africa and Denmark's Thorbjorn Olesen are both on 11 under.

Lawrie is aiming for his first European Tour victory since August 2012.

"There are a lot of good players behind me," said the Scot.

"Branden Grace won here before and is well up the world rankings so Saturday is going to be a different challenge, but I'm looking forward to it."

Lawrie's last victory came in the Johnnie Walker Championship three-and-a-half years ago, but he is confident of securing the ninth Tour victory of his career.

"I had a couple of top-10s back-to-back last year at KLM and Denmark and really should have been higher up in both of them," he added.

"Hopefully I keep hitting the shots that I'm hitting and knock a few putts in and it all goes well."

England's Tommy Fleetwood is in tied fourth, three shots behind Lawrie, with English duo Andrew Johnston and Lee Slattery a shot further back.
