Clarke hopes Open can inspire his revival

2011 champion Darren Clarke hopes a return to the Royal Troon links where he finished in share of second in 1997 can help him regain form after several seasons of struggle.

"My own game is a little bit rusty to say the least but hopefully coming back here to Troon in the biggest tournament in the world will get me going a little bit," said the European Ryder Cup captain.

Clarke, 47, has been concentrating on his Ryder Cup duties this season and the Northern Irishman says his team is "shaping up nicely" for the biennial match against the United States at Hazeltine from 30 September to 2 October.
