Europe fired up for Ryder Cup defence - Clarke

Europe captain Darren Clarke says his team are "fired up" for the defence of the Ryder Cup against the United States in Minnesota starting on Friday.

The Northern Irishman told BBC Sport NI's Stephen Watson that compatriot Rory McIlroy's victory in the Tour Championship in Atlanta on Sunday was "fantastic" and "everyone is proud to have him as part of our team".

Clarke added that the death of Arnold Palmer, "an icon of the sport" has "cast a shadow over everything".
