Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell is five behind leader England's Richard Bland at the halfway stage of the British Masters.

McDowell, 37, carded a second successive three-under-par 68 at The Grove which included five birdies.

The Portrush man is sharing 14th spot while Europe's 2014 Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley is in a group a further shot back after a 67 on Friday.

Michael Hoey suffered another missed cut after a 71 on Friday.

Five-time European Tour winner Hoey was unable to undo the damage of his opening 75 at the Hertfordshire venue.

Hoey is currently 185th in the Race to Dubai with only next week's Portugal Masters to come before the top 110 card retaining positions are confirmed.

The Belfast man is currently over 180,000 Euro outside 110th position.

Englishman Bland holds a one-stroke lead after a 64 moved him to 11 under par.

Countryman Andrew Johnston is one stroke behind and tied for second place with in-form Swede Alex Noren.
