Hoey enthused by new format for NI Open

Northern Ireland Open Tournament Ambassador Michael Hoey is excited by the prospect of a new final day knockout matchplay format for this year's tournament at Galgorm Castle.

The event is one of those chosen to trial the new format, which will see the field reduced to 24 players after 56 holes of strokeplay, the initial cut having taken place as usual after the first two rounds of play.

Hoey says the European Challenge Tour competition, which will be staged from 10-13 August, is "getting bigger every year".
