Champions Trophy Hockey: England claim first victory
England beat Japan 3-1 to claim their first win in the Champions Trophy and a place in the fifth v sixth play-off.
Hollie Webb's rifled shot from a penalty corner put England ahead and a cracking strike from Sophie Bray doubled the lead before half-time.
Japan hit back through Akane Shibata on 42 minutes before Sarah Haycroft broke through to score her first senior goal for England 10 minutes from time.
England will face China on Sunday in Mendoza, Argentina.
Danny Kerry's England side drew with Germany and lost to Australia and hosts Argentina to finish bottom of their pool, resulting in a low seeding for the knockout stages.
They then lost in the quarter-finals to New Zealand, who will play Australia in one semi-final with the other last-four tie between the Netherlands and Argentina.
