National Trophy: Guernsey thrash Blackheath in final to regain cup
Guernsey thrashed Blackheath 7-2 in the final of the EH National Trophy to regain the cup.
It was the Channel Islanders' fifth consecutive final appearance and follows their defeat last year on penalty flicks.
Zak Damarell scored twice, with Andy Whalley, Sam Dawes, Josh Kendal, Steve Waldrom and Morgan Harries getting the other goals at Lee Valley.
It is the second time they have won the competition in the last three years.
"The first half was a really tense affair and the scoreline probably slightly flattered us towards the end," said Guernsey player-coach Whalley.
"It was really nice to have the last five or 10 minutes without the pressure of it being tight, and knowing it was in the bag.
"It's been five years of hard work to get to this point, but the side have really gelled this year and I'm delighted for all the players."
