Daryl Jacob has been appointed as second stable jockey to Ruby Walsh at Paul Nicholls' Somerset stables.

Jacob successfully deputised for Walsh after he broke his leg last November.

And he is already third in the jockeys table, with six winners from 12 rides for Nicholls' Manor Farm yard, since the new season started on 24 April.

"I'm sure this move benefits everyone in the yard," said Nicholls. "With the younger lads as back-up, we'll have the best squad we've ever had."
