US Horse of the Year California Chrome will miss next month's Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.

The Kentucky Derby winner and Dubai World Cup runner-up, trained by Art Sherman, will make his British debut at Royal Ascot in June.

California Chrome is currently lodging with Rae Guest in Newmarket.

"It was a long journey to Dubai and then a long journey to here. It's just taken him another week to get over it all," he said.

The four-year-old, last year's Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes victor, missed out on a Triple Crown in the US with a fourth-placed finish in the Belmont Stakes.

He is as low as 8-1 with bookmakers for the 10-furlong Prince Of Wales's Stakes at the Royal meeting and 14-1 for the Queen Anne Stakes over a mile.
