Clever Cookie won the Ormonde Stakes at Chester after a late drive by jockey Graham Lee secured victory over favourite Tac De Boistron.

The Peter Niven-trained 8-1 shot was behind the well-backed grey, ridden by Marco Botti, into the final turn.

But Clever Cookie responded in heavy conditions and finished strongest to win the race by a length and a quarter.

Meanwhile, Jim Crowley won a thrilling finish in the Dee Stakes aboard 11-1 outsider Not So Sleepy.

Heading down the home straight, the Hughie Morrison-trained runner was challenged on each side by Prince Gagarin and Disegno but won by a neck.

Short-priced favourite Smuggler's Cove, trained by Aidan O'Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore, finished fourth.
