Australian jockey Michelle Payne has ridden her first winner since returning from a career-threatening injury.

The 30-year-old, who became the first female rider to win the Melbourne Cup last November, took the Coleraine Cup on Birds Of Tokyo.

Her mount briefly became unbalanced in the home home straight and bounced off the running rail, but Payne kept calm and steered the mare to victory.

It was Payne's sixth race since surgery on her pancreas after a fall in May.
