Leading chaser Douvan is to miss the whole of the jump racing season.

Douvan was unbeaten in 13 races from 13 starts after joining Irish trainer Willie Mullins, until he was seventh in March's Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

A pelvic injury was diagnosed and treated, and the seven-year-old was poised to return in December's Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown but was scratched shortly before the race.

"This season is on hold," Mullins said.

"It's disappointing news, but we are taking a very conservative approach to his recovery," he added.

"He is young enough to come back to his best."
