Nottingham Panthers cannot afford slip-ups - Scott Champagne
Nottingham Panthers forward Scott Champagne says the club cannot afford further defeats if they are to maintain their Elite League title challenge.
Panthers have lost four of 15 games this term, after being narrowly beaten by title rivals Belfast and Coventry going into Saturday's trip to Cardiff.
"The position we're in now, we can't afford to lose any more," Champagne told BBC Radio Nottingham.
"We've got to go on a run now and we need the four points at Cardiff."
The visit to Wales is followed by a home fixture against bottom club Fife, with both sides conceding six goals to Panthers earlier in the campaign.
"We have a goal in mind which is the league, but over the last few weeks even in the wins we got against the lower teams we didn't play well and we were lucky," Champagne added.
"If we give those kind of performances against the top teams then we're not going to win.
"We've got to be a lot better, but it's still early, there's a long way to go."
