Cardiff to face Coventry in Elite League play-offs

Cardiff Devils will face Coventry Blaze in the Elite League play-offs after the Midlands club beat the Welshmen in the first of their weekend meetings.

Jerramie Domish opened the scoring for the Blaze at the Skydome on Saturday but Chris Frank, Ben Davies and Scott Matzka put the Devils ahead.

Matic Kralj and Shea Guthrie began the fightback before Woo-Sang Park, Mike McLean and Robert Farmer sealed a win.

But Cardiff won Sunday's return fixture 4-3 at the Cardiff Bay Arena.

Stuart MacRae, Jeff Pierce scored early on for Cardiff before Coventry's Guthrie replied either side of Devils forward Scott Dobben's effort.

Phil Hill made the game safe for Cardiff but Dustin Wood did score a late consolation for Coventry.

Cardiff, who had already secured fourth spot last weekend, and Coventry, who sealed fifth spot with Saturday's win, will now compete in a two-legged end-of-season play-off battle this weekend.
