Coventry Blaze beat Belfast Giants in semi-final shoot-out
Coventry Blaze are through to the final of the Elite League Play-offs after a shoot-out success against the Belfast Giants in Nottingham on Saturday.
Ben Arnt was the only scorer in the penalty shoot-out after it had ended 2-2 after regulation and overtime.
Mike Kompon and Ray Sawada got the goals for the Giants with Justin DaCosta and Jereme Tendler netting equalisers for the Blaze.
Coventry will face Sheffield Steelers in the final on Sunday.
Belfast take on Hull Stingrays in the third and fourth place play-off but it was not the match coach Steve Thornton wanted for the climax of what has been a disappointing campaign overall.
Having run away with the league last season, the Giants saw their title defence fade and they ended fifth in the table.
