Belfast Giants endure a miserable weekend against Sheffield Steelers crashing to back-to-back defeats against their Elite League rivals.

Belfast Giants were beaten 2-1 by Sheffield Steelers on Sunday in their second Elite League defeat in two days by the English side.

Mike Wilson hammered home a fine one-timer at 4:59 to put the Giants ahead at the Sheffield Arena.

Tyler Mosienko got the Steelers on the scoresheet at 30:13 and he netted the winner seven minutes later.

The Giants could not find a way past Tyler Plante in the third period, getting eleven shots on the netminder.

Belfast started the game, just as they did in Saturday night's 6-1 defeat, without Johan Ejdepalm, Chris Higgins and Derrick Walser with the latter serving the second of a two-game suspension.

The visitors showed no sign of being short benched early on with Wilson on target after Kris Beech dished him the puck as the Giants took advantage of an early powerplay.

The second period saw the hosts turn things around after coming up against a much improved Giants side in the opening 20 minutes.

Mosienko scored his eighth goal of the season and followed it up with a second when he somehow got his stick on the puck and fired it past Stephen Murphy.

The Giants return to action next Saturday with a home league game against Coventry Blaze before playing the same opponents in England on Sunday.
